Product Description

Oftrix 200 Tablets contain Ofloxacin 200 mg, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, stopping bacteria from replicating.

Ofloxacin has good penetration into most tissues and achieves superior bacteriological eradication and cure rates in respiratory tract infections. It is also a novel approach in the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhoea.

Uses

• Bronchitis and pneumonia
• Typhoid fever
• Urinary tract infections
• Gastro-intestinal infections and diarrhoea
• Skin and soft tissue infections

How to Use

1. Usual adult dose: 200 mg once or twice daily, or as directed by the physician.
2. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
3. Avoid antacids, iron or zinc supplements within 2 hours of a dose.
4. Complete the full course even if you feel better.

Safety Information

• Not recommended for children, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding, without medical advice.
• Use with caution in kidney, liver or neurological (e.g. epilepsy) disorders.
• May cause nausea, dizziness, headache, abdominal discomfort or sensitivity to sunlight – avoid excessive sun exposure.
• Stop and consult your doctor if you develop tendon pain.
• Use only under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner.
• Tell your doctor about any other medicines you take and about liver, kidney or heart problems.
• Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
